Capucine Korenberg -Homepage alt-text

Hi! I’m Capucine.

I believe everyone deserves to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. I’m passionate about helping people who feel like they don’t “fit in” or worry about being “different” discover their strengths and create a fulfilling life. I have a special interest in supporting introverts and neurodiverse individuals and I’m deeply committed to helping those struggling with the emotional impact of traumatic experiences. I have also supported clients facing very challenging parenting issues, recognising the pain, isolation and resilience involved.

About Me

Capucine Korenberg – About me

I’m a thoughtful therapist with a gentle manner and a love of art and nature. I offer a safe, supportive space for you to explore your experiences, whatever they may be. I work with people experiencing low self-esteem, loneliness, anxiety, difficulties with emotion regulation and challenges in interpersonal relationships.

Psychotherapy is a proven path to feeling better and overcoming mental health challenges. As a trained scientist with 20+ years of research experience, I use evidence-based approaches in my counselling practice. I believe there’s no shame in exploring who you are, whether it be aspects of your gender, sexuality, faith or values. Discovering more about yourself is something to embrace and celebrate!

I hold a Certificate in Therapeutic Skills from the Metanoia Institute and am currently in the process of completing my MSc in Contemporary Person-Centred Psychotherapy. I’m in the last stage of my training and am a UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) trainee psychotherapist. I’ve volunteered as a counsellor at Kingston’s Women Centre since 2023, and previously at Metanoia Counselling and Psychotherapy Service.

My Approach

My practice is grounded in Carl Rogers’ humanistic psychology, which believes that every individual has the inner resources for growth and fulfilment. Sometimes, life can block access to these resources. My aim is to help you not only overcome current difficulties but also to support you in accessing your inherent resources and understanding to face future challenges confidently.

“We cannot change, we cannot move away from what we are, until we thoroughly accept what we are. Then change seems to come about almost unnoticed.”

Carl Rogers

My Journey

My journey to psychotherapy has been shaped by an unconventional path. With an MSc in Physics and a PhD in Materials Science, I have been an academic researcher in heritage science for 20+ years, blending my passion for art and science.

While academic research has been fulfilling, I realised some years ago that something was missing. This led to a period of reflection and growth, ultimately guiding me to psychotherapy, where I found a profound sense of purpose.

Training in psychotherapy has allowed me to merge my analytical mindset with empathetic understanding. This diverse background enables me to offer a distinctive perspective in my practice, combining deep compassion with scientific rigour.

“Connection is the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard and valued; when they can give and receive without judgement; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.”

Brené Brown

Confidentiality

Your privacy is important to me. Everything you share during our sessions is confidential, with a few exceptions:

  • To ensure the quality of my work, I participate in ongoing supervision with an experienced therapist. All discussions in supervision maintain client confidentiality and any identifying information is kept strictly private.
  • In situations where there is an imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, I am legally and ethically obligated to take steps to ensure safety. This may include breaching confidentiality to contact appropriate authorities or emergency services. I will make every effort to discuss this with you first, unless doing so would increase the risk of harm.
  • If I am compelled by a court order or subpoena to release information. Whenever possible, I will inform you of any legal requests for information and discuss the implications with you.

Sessions

Each session lasts 50 minutes. We typically meet weekly at a regular time. There’s no set duration for therapy – we can work together for as long as you find it beneficial. When you’re ready to end therapy, I appreciate some notice so we can plan for a proper conclusion.

Payments

Please ensure payment is made within 24 hours of each session (bank transfer or Paypal).

The initial fee is fixed for at least 12 months from our first session. I will provide one month’s notice of any fee increases.

Cancellations

If you need to reschedule with less than 48 hours’ notice, I’ll do my best to accommodate you within the same week. If that’s not possible, the full fee will apply.
